Dr. Debashis Chatterjee is a senior Psychiatrist from Kolkata who has come a long way in his extensive career in mental health whose seeds were sown in 1991. His current professional attachments consisting of Mon Psychiatric Nursing Home, Daffodil Nursing Home and Sree Aurobindo Seva Kendra are all located in Kolkata and can be sought on fixed days and timings.
In terms of formal education, Dr. Chatterjee fulfils MBBS, DPM, MD and PhD qualifications. He completed his post graduation from National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences, Bengaluru and Central Institute of Psychiatry, Ranchi. Additionally, Dr. Chatterjee has achieved a PhD degree from Jadavpur University, Kolkata.
Dr. Chatterjee is strongly involved in charitable activities. He is the Founder Member and Consultant of NGOs like Anjali, WHY (Wellbeing, Happiness and You), Iswar Sankalpa, Mon Foundation, Pratay Gender trust etc. which are working in different areas of mental health services. Dr. Chatterjee has also raised awareness and thrown light on various psychiatric issues through the medium of television interviews.
Dr. Chatterjee’s main area of interest stems from basic philosophical and epistemological problems in the discipline of Psychiatry. He directs his efforts towards the cause of human rights of mentally ill individuals, welfare of homeless mentally ill persons and sexual rights of citizens including gay, lesbian and transgender issues.
